Purps Place Review: Tommy Gunz- The 21 Gun Salute

Whats good yall. This ya boy, the one, the only Mista Purp. Been a while since I posted here, been busy as fuck with all these projects but its been even longer since I put up one of my drug induced Purps Place Review so as im writing this, I am eating a total of 4 liberty caps and rollin 2 blunts. Now lets spark this first one and get started on reviewing "The 21 Gun Salute" by my Psyko South homie Tommy Gunz.

1) Greatest Hits Intro- Lovin this Psykotik infomercial and to be honest if this greatest hits album were real i'd buy it and bump it lol. Funny shit mane! Definately not an intro to skip 10/10

2) War Zone- Love the piano kickin this off with the pizzi leading in. "God save a niggas soul cuz i'm prayin for help, got me walkin in the valley of the shadow of death, i don't fear no man so i'm takin whats left, we in a battle with police and at we at war with ourself" I absolutely love that hook!!! Sick fuckin flow by Tommy in this track. Some real hard bumpin street shit right here with great production! 10/10

3) In the Heat of the Night featuring Big Rela and Squire Zama- Love the hook on this track, don't knw who it is but hot shit. Rela kicks the track off with that wickid shit as usual with his confidence and presence on a track it makes anything a banger. Tommy takes verse 2. Tommy has that voice, lyrical content and flow that just screams "Florida Hustle" to me, I love this shit. Squire takes the 3rd with some intense emotion in this one. One of my favorite verses I ever heard from Zama. Good shit, my one complaint of this track is the first bars of the hook beat wise can take away with all 3 of these ending their verses with such intesity to have it hit the brakes when the hook first comes just isn't me, the beat picks up on the hook on bars 5-8, woulda maybe  kept the mood going strong if the structure of the hook was flipped. Otherwise its a real dope track. 7.5/10

4) The Drop- Definately a club banger right here. The type of track that just makes you wanna stomp on the fuckin ground. Sick wordplay and the same intense mic presence from Tommy on this one. "Roll his ass up and smoke a nigga like a dime sack", I fuckin love that bar right there. 9/10

5) My Rifle featuring Soulja C- Tommy with a more laid back sound on this one but im feelin it with the wordplay. The full metal jacket reference in the hook is fucking epic!!! 2nd is Soulja with his first 2 bars screwed leading in adds a nice touch to the track. Soulja kills it like always on this one. 9/10

6) Scarred featuring La Vonna- Beat has a nice feel to it similar to War Zone with the sine. La Vonna kills the hook on this one. More real street shit on this one. This my hood banger right here. 10/10

7) Screwed Up Skit- What can I say? I love skits about Purp(wink, wink) lol 10/10

8) That Purple- Ohhhhhweeeee, lovin this beat and hook, my favorite track off the cd so far. Real laid back flow by Tommy with a flanger tied in there. Just listening to this track got me leaning. To keep this one short and sweet, just bump this track and sip that purp! 10/10

9) Why You Wanna Play featuring La Vonna- Nice laid back beat here.Tommy killin it on this one. Sounds like something they should bump on the radio. La Vonna lays her best hook of the album on this track. These two definately have good chemistry, especially on this beat. 10/10

10) To The Bone featuring Soulja C and Vice Gripp- Love the sample in this track. Soulja C kills it to start the track, he fits real well on this beat. Next is Tommy killin it like always in what siunds like a certified strip club anthem. Next is Vice for the first time on this cd and he makes up for the lack of appearences on the earlier track. he straight rips the beat. Awesome production and the sample goes perfect with the track. One of my favorites on the album. 9.5/10

11) Don't Touch My Liquor featuring Soulja C- Club banger!!! Soulja C straight murkin the beat in the first verse. Tommy's vocals in the 2nd verse sound more crisp on this track with a sick verse. This ones a banger! 8.5/10

12) Spun A Web- Beautiful beat and sample here. Tommy gettin deep in this track. I love it. And the delayed claps add a real nice emotional touch to this. Real sad emotional track. 10/10

13) I want the world(Fuck the world) featuring Soulja C and Vice Gripp- The beat pumps me da fuck up. Some buck shit here with a real sick hook! Tommy comin in on this track with more intensity than usual straight murkin the beat. Soulja C comes in on the second verse bringin so much confidence into the track you can't help but vibe to it. Vice slaughtering the track yet again bringin an already awesome track to another level. Crazy track 10/10

14) Thinking into the night featuring La Vonna- Epic sample to open the track on this one!!! Sick fuckin beat here!!! This is on some cold shit. Tommy bringing some of his best lyrical content on the whole album. The choir on the beat just adds to he feeling. La Vonna killin the hook again, not really feelin the fx on her voice but it don't take away from track a all. My #1 favorite track on this record. 10/10

15) See it in my eyes featuring Soulja C- I'm a sucker for bells on beats so im feelin this right away with Soulja C fuckin straight killin it. Tommy with some clever and sick wordplay on this one. He really got me vibin to this one. Classic track 9.5/10

16) Unstoppable featuring Vice Gripp- This track feels like its structured perfectly. Tommy straight killin it with the beat setting the perfect mood to the track. Vice gripp adding the mood givin an even more upbeat feel to it putting the icing on the cake. Love this track. 10/10

17) The dark dedication interlude- I fucking love this beat, its perfectly dark with that creepy piano melody and the background strings. The cello giving the track a chilling vibe. Creepy goodness! 10/10

18) 21 Gun salute- Tommy straight rippin from the start! Amazing lyrical content on this track with great word play and rising intensity throughout the track. Just a straight 3 minute flow, perfect way to close out the album. 10/10

Overall- Great production, not overly saturated with features, just the right amount of them. Florida needs more artists like Tommy Gunz. He brings that real street shit to the table, not that fake garbage that you hear these days. Great cd, more than worth the money and the better part is that it's free!!! Check out www.psykosouth.com for more Tommy Gunz news or show him some love on HIS FACEBOOK . This record gets a 10/10

Til next time. Be safe everyone
